Trinidad and Tobago's Senior Rugby Men’s Team opens its 2019 World Cup Qualifiers against Jamaica on Saturday 23rd April at 4pm in the Ato Boldon Stadium.


T&T will face a confident Jamaica who trounced St. Vincent and the Grenadines 48-0 in their opening qualifier last month. With that win, Jamaica rose 6 spots to 26th in the World Rugby Rankings​.

Ranked 4 places better in 22nd, a well prepared ​ Trinidad and Tobago also aims to be victorious in their opening qualifier which is also the start of ​ their 2015 Caribbean Championship title defense.

​As part of their qualification process, the local ruggermen will face Barbados on 21st May in Barbados, Guyana on the 18th June in Trinidad and once successful in those two fixture, they will face the winner of the Northern Regional Championship to defend their title and move on to play the winner of South America Rugby Championships in the World Cup Qualification Process.

​Head Coach Larry Mendez described his team as well balanced with youth and experience and stated "Bringing in younger players was necessary as it created competition in the squad for positions, improving the training session leading into better overall performances by the team thus far​.”

Six players will make their debut in this cycle of competition and long standing captain Adam Fredericks will lead the charges.
