Keshorn Walcott is a supremely talented field athlete from Toco, who seems destined for greatness.
At the 2012 Carifta Games, in Hamilton, Bermuda, Walcott completed a hat-trick of victories in the boys’ under-20 javelin. He earned gold in Bermuda with a big 77.59 metres throw - a Carifta record, a Central American and Caribbean (CAC) junior (under-20) record, and a Trinidad and Tobago junior record.
Walcott added the T&T senior record to his résumé at the Quantum Invitational, in Port of Spain, hurling the spear 78.94 metres to erase a 16-year-old standard from the books. The throw was also a North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) junior record.
And at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) centennial anniversary meet, in Havana, Cuba, Walcott became the Pan American junior record holder with a huge 80.11 metres effort.
