Mikel Thomas will travel to London, England to compete at the Olympic Games for the second time in his career.
Thomas made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Games, in Beijing, China. In Beijing, he finished sixth in his first round heat in the men’s 110 metres hurdles in a personal best 13.69 seconds to book a spot in the quarterfinals. He was sixth in his quarterfinal heat, improving his pb to 13.62, but did not advance to the semis.
It took Thomas four years to better his best, the T&T sprint hurdler clocking 13.48 seconds at the 2012 Texas Relays, in late March.
Olympic seasons seem to bring out the best in Thomas. On June 9, in Florida, he got to the line in 13.51 – his second fastest legal time.
