Michelle-Lee Ahye is just 20, and will make her Olympic debut in London. The young sprinter, however, has already competed at a major senior global meet.
Selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the 2011 World Championships, in Daegu, South Korea, Ahye held her own, clocking 11.20 seconds in her women’s 100 metres heat to secure third spot and an automatic berth in the semis.
That 11.20 run in Daegu was a personal best for Ahye. In April, 2012, she improved her pb to 11.19, the clocking earning her second spot at the Mt SAC Relays, in California, USA.
Ahye has also recorded a new 200 metres PR (personal record) this season, the T&T sprinter getting to the line in 23.13 seconds for gold at the President’s Classic, in Port of Spain, in late May
