Kai Selvon retained her national 200 metres title with a 22.96 seconds run at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, on June 24. The clocking is her fastest, to date, in 2012.
The Auburn University sprinter also achieved half-lap success at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Iowa, finishing second in 23.19.
Selvon’s personal best in the 200 metres is 22.89 seconds – the national junior record. She produced that run at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
Selvon’s 100 metres best, 11.21 seconds, was clocked this season, in the qualifying round at the NCAA Championships. In the final, she got to the line in 11.41 to finish fourth.
