Sparkle McKnight has been having a highly satisfying 2012 campaign.
On May 5, McKnight won a 200 metres race in Texas in a personal best 23.29 seconds, improving on her previous best by 62-hundredths of a second.
On April 14, she took 23-hundredths of a second off her 400 metres PR (personal record), dropping from 53.52 to 53.29.
And then, on June 23, at the National Championships in Port of Spain, McKnight dived under 53 seconds for the first time in her career, the 20-year-old athlete clocking an impressive 52.44 seconds to claim gold, well ahead of Shawna Fermin, the silver medallist in 53.39.
For good measure, McKnight has also clocked a 400 metres hurdles PR this season – 57.42 seconds
