George Bovell - SwimmingGeorge Bovell knows what it’s like to be part of an Olympic medal ceremony.

At the 2004 Games, in Athens, Greece, the Trinidad and Tobago swimmer earned bronze in the men’s 200 metres individual medley in one minute, 58.80 seconds.

Four years later, in Beijing, China, Bovell competed in the 50 metres freestyle, as well as the 100 free. In the longer race, he finished 20th overall in the opening round in 48.83 seconds, and did not advance to the semis. In the 50, though, Bovell progressed to the semis sixth fastest with a 21.77 seconds scorcher. A 21.86 seconds swim in his semifinal heat earned him 11th spot overall.

Bovell is hoping to return to the podium at the London Games. He will compete in the 100 backstroke and 100 free, but it is in the 50 free that he expects to make an impact.
