The Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) has added its voice to the growing chorus of organisations endorsing the initiative of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee to win ten or more Olympic gold medals by the 2024 Olympic Games (#10Golds24).

According to CANOC General Secretary, Keith Joseph, “the initiative, started by TTOC President, Brian Lewis in 2014, is an excellent one that guarantees the nation’s athletes that the TTOC is placing them at the centre of the organisation’s work. This is the mandate of all National Olympic Committees and the TTOC is providing an excellent example to the entire membership of CANOC”.

Mr Lewis’ decision last year to walk the Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon to bring attention to the initiative has certainly achieved its objective. Several athletes and organisations have since come on board to our delight.

Joseph added that “CANOC recognises the historic significance of the country’s Chief Justice, Ivor Archie O.R.T.T. and family’s participation in this year’s Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon scheduled for Sunday 17 January to raise awareness for the initiative. This is a great endorsement for the TTOC’s initiative and CANOC applauds the undertaking”.

CANOC is extremely proud of the fine example of Olympism being set by the TTOC and extends sincere congratulations to the organization and all involved in the initiative.
