National 400 Metre Runner Deon Lendore Dies In Car Crash In The US

Tragic news that National 400 Metre runner Deon Lendore died on Monday night has sent the local track and field community into mourning.

Reports are that Lendore succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident in the United States. We're told the accident was just after a training session. He was 29.

Lendore was a two-time Individual World Indoor 400M Bronze Medallist in 2016 and 2018, and World Indoor 4X400 Relay Bronze Medallist. He was also a World Championships 4x4 Silver Medallist in 2015, and World Relay Champion in 2019.

One of the Arima native's greatest accomplishments was being part of the 4X4 team that won Bronze at the London Olympics in 2012.

Lendore's last major international competition for Trinidad and Tobago would have been the Tokyo Olympics where he made it to the Semi Finals of the 400 Metres, and was part of the 4x4 team that finished 8th in the event.
