Former President of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC), Steve Stoute, has relinquished leadership of what he considers his baby, CANOC, after 17 years at the helm. On Sunday 24 October 2016 Stoute made good on his word given two years earlier when elected in his native Barbados, to step down after two-of the current four-year term.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC), Brian Lewis, is now the Interim President of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC). Lewis was unanimously elected to serve in the capacity following the resignation of former President, Steve Stoute. of Barbados.

As a result of what is widely seen as sport organizations no longer being fit for purpose, fans, athletes, sponsors, governments and sport organizations are also starting to acknowledge the importance and urgency in bringing about change in the way that sport is governed.
