Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President Louise Martin has visited the Bahamas to carry out an inspection of venues and facilities, as the Caribbean country closes in on being named as host of the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games.

The Bahamas has been awarded the 2017 edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games, it was announced today, aiming to unite 1000 young athletes aged 14-18 in a Caribbean carnival of impactful competition, personal development and new Commonwealth friendships.

Bahamas is the only contender bidding to replace fellow Caribbean island St Lucia as host of the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, it will be announced later today.
